The original Peg tiles were first introduced by the Romans and became the roofing tile of choice in the mid-1300 and still made to this day. Peg Tiles were crafted in various forms with the two most popular being either universal or mixed sizes. Peg Tiles were given their name due to the laying of each tile using wooden pegs. The Heritage Conservation Peg Tile are manufactured to emulate the look of a traditional universal peg tile, without the hefty price.
