Courtrai clay roof tiles have a compact profile with a broad, flat pan and a subtle side roll, distinguishing them from more deeply curved pantiles. Headlocks and sidelocks allow neighbouring tiles to interlock. Our reclaimed range includes smooth terracotta examples, while glazed versions offer alternative colours and finishes.
The name comes from Courtrai, the French name for Kortrijk in Belgium, an established centre of clay roof tile production. Manufacturers associated with the area include Pottelberg and Sterreberg. The Sterreberg works were founded in 1907 at Aalbeke, near Kortrijk, where local clay deposits and railway access supported production.
