Concrete Plain Tiles are designed to be more cost-effective than clay, with the additional benefit of frost resistance and a variety of colours such as red, orange, yellow, purple, brown and grey. The more popular brands are Redland, Marley, Ightham, Sandtoft and Forticrete. Different brands of concrete plain tiles can be used alongside one another, although there may be a colour variation between manufacturers.
The newer design is smoother than the original granular design. Concrete Plain Tiles are typically available in either 10.5 x 6.5 inches in size or a larger 11 x 7 inches in size.
